    First time customer and really impressed with the care taken with delivery and the follow up with revised cooking times. On the day the revised times worked perfectly and the 2kg 4 bird roast was absolutely delicious. Easily fed 5 plus a toddler and there’s plenty left for sandwiches and other dinners. Loved it and will be back for more in future.

    Having moved to the UK 5 years ago, I questioned whether I would be able to find the original Turduken here in the UK, but I was amazed to stumble across James Alexander Fine Foods. I placed an order over the phone on Tuesday, and it was delivered efficiently by their courier. I cooked it with my family for lunch this afternoon, and it was a roaring success! Deliciously moist and tender! Thank you so much!

    My 4 bird roast was amazing and I will definitely get one next year. It was so easy to cook and hardly any fat came out of it and yet is was so tender and succulent. Lots left for Boxng Day and sandwiches too. My whole family loved it!
    Briliant service too for delivery and how it was boxed.

    My only reason for not giving 5* is that I’ve not really got any comparators. My only quibble would be that i’d have welcomed an estimated delivery date with the confirmation when I placed the order. In fact it arrived in plenty of time (despite a quite late order). The email with cooking instructions was a nice touch. Will certainly order from you again.

    Cooked the 4 bird roast for an early festive meal at the weekend and everyone thought it was wonderful. Perfectly juicy, beautifully tender and tasty. Will certainly buy again next year. We had the 2kg bird which was ample for four adults and two children with plenty of leftovers. Delivery and communications regarding order very good too.

    Absolutely loved our 4 bird roast for Xmas dinner. Definitely would recommend and would look to purchase for next Xmas. We bought the 2kg bird and it fed 6 adults and 2 kids with plenty of left over for dinner on boxing day. Took 2 hours to cook and was enjoyed by everyone. Service was excellent. Thank you

Our famous hand prepared 4 bird roasts are made to order from Turkey, Pheasant, Chicken and Duck, expertly combined together so that each bird cooks the next one inside and the juices combine exquisitely.

Our free-range birds are reared using traditional methods, roaming and foraging as they please. Our focus on provenance and welfare ensures the highest-quality Easter meat for your festive dinner table.

Luxury award-winning gluten free pork sausage stuffing is then added to ensure exquisite taste and melt-in-the-mouth texture.  Lastly, the joint is dressed with award-winning Cumbrian pancetta and a couple of sprigs of thyme to maintain the succulent flavours inside and to add visual “wow” effect.

After the main feast any that is left over also tastes very good cold, so you can look forward to another treat if you don’t finish it in the first sitting.

How to Cook your Bird Roast

  • Bring the joint up to room temperature.        
  • Pre-heat your oven to 190°c/375° (170°c or gas mark 5 for fan assisted ovens)
  • Calculate the cooking time allowing 40 minutes per kg, then add 15-20 minutes to overall cooking time
  • Remove the packaging and place in a large roasting tray
  • Season well
  • Cover with a loose tent of foil
  • Place in the middle of your pre-heated oven
  • Roast for the calculated time basting every 30 to 40 minutes
  • Remove the foil tent 30 minutes before the end of the cooking time to brown and crisp the skin
  • Check that it is cooked by inserting a skewer – the juices should run clear. If they are a little pink give them 15 minutes more and check again
  • Transfer to a serving platter and tightly cover in the foil and allow to rest for 10 minutes before carving
